Team Oldham Values Assembly

As a team, every fortnight we recognise children who have been displaying active learner qualities inside and outside the classroom (e.g. organised, focused, show time management skills, asks questions, takes responsibility for their learning, shares their valuable ideas in discussions).

Each term we also focus on at least two important values. This term we are looking at how we can manage ourselves. This means we make sure we are organised for our learning, we know what to include in our learning tasks and ask questions to check we are on the right track and we complete our learning on time and to a high standard.
Congratulations to the following students who have been awarded certificates for their positive attitudes towards learning in the past two weeks.

Welcome!

Welcome to Room 21 2019! It is such a pleasure to be getting to know your children over the past few days. What a great class we have - full of diversity and positiveness. The class is settling well and learning the expected routines. Our learning journey is well underway and see how the children are so excited to learn news things and take on new challenges in their learning. In Writing, we have just completed our 'What Summer Means' poem and I was delighted with the quality of our poems. If you have a chance, please feel free to pop into Room 21 and look at our published copies hanging up - they are well worth a read. In Reading, we will be looking at a range of texts and predicting and making connections. In Maths, we are focusing on Statistics. We have already begun looking into efficient ways to collate data. We will also look at a variety of ways to display data and how to effectively analyse data. This will all be leading up to an individual Statistics Invest

Inquiry - Learning Pit

Today in Inquiry, we looked at 'The Learning Pit'. We love the learning pit as a toll because it shows us that it's ok to struggle with our learning, that it's natural that some things are harder to learn than others, it's ok to seek help in our learning. By going through this process our learning is deeper and more meaningful and we will be more successful. As a class we talked about there are different stages when learning something new. We start by facing a challenge and this is the time when we could feel anxious, nervous or even scared about what is ahead of us. We 'fall' into the pit (Deep Learning) and start feeling confused, thinking it's all too hard. Then we start to realise that if we ask for help, keep trying and ask questions, we can begin to climb up out of the pit.
