Welcome to Term 2

It is so exciting to have everyone back energised for Term 2. It sounds like the children in Room 21 had fabulous holidays and were able to spend lots of quality time with their family.

What an amazing Term of learning we have ahead of us.

In Writing, we are going to be looking at writing Narratives, so those who love imagination and being creative will be excited!  Then later in the term we will look at Information Reports to lick in with our Inquiry. In Maths, we will be looking into Multiplication and Division and a very exciting Measurement Rich task in the middle of the Term that includes designing your Dream Garden. In Reading, we will be focusing on asking questions, skimming and scanning and summarising. Our Inquiry this term will be looking into Sustainability. In P.E will be focusing on Winter Sports Skills, such as soccer, hockey, basketball and netball.

So as you can see it will be go-go-go for 10 weeks!  We can't wait to get into it!

Inquiry - Learning Pit

Today in Inquiry, we looked at 'The Learning Pit'. We love the learning pit as a toll because it shows us that it's ok to struggle with our learning, that it's natural that some things are harder to learn than others, it's ok to seek help in our learning. By going through this process our learning is deeper and more meaningful and we will be more successful. As a class we talked about there are different stages when learning something new. We start by facing a challenge and this is the time when we could feel anxious, nervous or even scared about what is ahead of us. We 'fall' into the pit (Deep Learning) and start feeling confused, thinking it's all too hard. Then we start to realise that if we ask for help, keep trying and ask questions, we can begin to climb up out of the pit. Welcome!

Welcome to Room 21 2019! It is such a pleasure to be getting to know your children over the past few days. What a great class we have - full of diversity and positiveness. The class is settling well and learning the expected routines. Our learning journey is well underway and see how the children are so excited to learn news things and take on new challenges in their learning. In Writing, we have just completed our 'What Summer Means' poem and I was delighted with the quality of our poems. If you have a chance, please feel free to pop into Room 21 and look at our published copies hanging up - they are well worth a read. In Reading, we will be looking at a range of texts and predicting and making connections. In Maths, we are focusing on Statistics. We have already begun looking into efficient ways to collate data. We will also look at a variety of ways to display data and how to effectively analyse data. This will all be leading up to an individual Statistics Invest
