Persuasive Writing - Collaborative Planning

This week in Writing we have begun our focus on Persuasive texts. We have 'picked apart' a model exemplar to ensure we understand what needs to be included in our writing to make it a persuasive text.

As a class, we decided to write a persuasive piece 'That Children Should Have Less Screen Time'. ;)

We got into groups using our shuffle cards (to ensure we work with a variety of children throughout the year) and planned our ideas together. We love collaborative planning as everyone has a pen and is writing their ideas on the sheet. There are no 'Passengers' in Room 21.

Inquiry - Learning Pit

Today in Inquiry, we looked at 'The Learning Pit'. We love the learning pit as a toll because it shows us that it's ok to struggle with our learning, that it's natural that some things are harder to learn than others, it's ok to seek help in our learning. By going through this process our learning is deeper and more meaningful and we will be more successful. As a class we talked about there are different stages when learning something new. We start by facing a challenge and this is the time when we could feel anxious, nervous or even scared about what is ahead of us. We 'fall' into the pit (Deep Learning) and start feeling confused, thinking it's all too hard. Then we start to realise that if we ask for help, keep trying and ask questions, we can begin to climb up out of the pit.
