Class Treaty

We have looked at what qualities we believe an active learner should have and what we think a 'Great Classmate' is, does, says, and does not.

We constructed a Treaty together as a class which we signed (with a creative handprint) to ensure we are always a 'Great Classmate'. It s important that we all feel supported in Room 21 and can identify the ways in which we can contribute to a happy and positive learning environment.

Creative Writing - The Twelve Doors

This week for writing we are tapping into our imaginations.... We are imagining that we are standing in front of twelve doors. Behind one there is a fabulous treasure. Behind the others are eleven of the most dangerous things in the world. We are going to draw and describe what lies behind each one. We planned our ideas collaboratively and have begun drawing what lies behind each of our twelve doors. Then we will use adjectives, verbs, similes and metaphors to describe the objects. We are so engaged in this learning and listening to each others ideas has been really valuable to us developing our own.

Inquiry - Learning Pit

Today in Inquiry, we looked at 'The Learning Pit'. We love the learning pit as a toll because it shows us that it's ok to struggle with our learning, that it's natural that some things are harder to learn than others, it's ok to seek help in our learning. By going through this process our learning is deeper and more meaningful and we will be more successful. As a class we talked about there are different stages when learning something new. We start by facing a challenge and this is the time when we could feel anxious, nervous or even scared about what is ahead of us. We 'fall' into the pit (Deep Learning) and start feeling confused, thinking it's all too hard. Then we start to realise that if we ask for help, keep trying and ask questions, we can begin to climb up out of the pit.
